The perfect bowl of grits is a lot like a bowl of melted butter with stuff inside it. That stuff is grits.

    Yeeeesssss, I’d like a moment alone with that bowl of gritsy butter. I forgot to mention that one reason my funnel cake failed was that I added some extra butter to the batter. About twice as much as it called for. Only then did I fry it in a deep layer of oil.
