I think if you can make a killer gyro, than you can definitely make a killer burger. I don't think it could be the other way around. Maybe that is why these Greek/American diners exist...the Greek food is what they want to make, but the burgers are what they make for those who don't have a 'multiculturally ignorant palette' as you say.
