The Eaten Path Is Two Years Old!

1 December 2009 - James Boo

Good News, Everyone!
On October 29, 2009, this blog reached the age of two. I was supposed to post something about it that day, but I was in North Carolina, eating barbecue and playing Super Mario Bros. 3.

I held onto the announcement for a few weeks more, waiting for my good friend and roommate Amit to complete some design changes he’d been cooking up for the site, but inevitable delay and the release of Super Mario Bros. Wii put the kibosh on that plan.

So, 32 days and eight Koopa infested worlds of gleeful gameplay later, I’m happy to announce that The Eaten Path is officially 2.08767 years old! Past that, it’s been about a year since I moved to New York City, home of some of the world’s greatest appetites. This blog now has multiple writers and fans from around the country, and hopefully there’s only more room to grow as our forks (and pens) reach across the globe.

In commemoration of 2 1/12 years of food writing, I’d like to point out a new feature on the site: the story sampler! Hover over “Sample” on the menu bar above, and you’ll get a random assortment of windows into our back catalog of posts. Seeing how this is a food blog, browsing by photograph, entry tags and search will be far more functional than a date-and-title archive. The sampler is in somewhat of a beta mode right now, but by the end of the year it should be nicely rounded out with post details, complete thumbnail-based archives and whatever else will make The Eaten Path easier to browse.

A million tablespoons of thanks to Amit, Zach, Vicky, Chi, Stephen and all of the readers who have given me a great excuse to eat irresponsibly and make funny business cards.

Stay hungry, comrades!

Sincerest congrats on 2 years. For the record, you don’t eat that irresponsibly, if you ever come to the Columbia area, I’ll show you what that really means lol.

  2. James Boo Says:

Haha – have you seen my post on bacon fat corn dog ice cream? If you can top that I’ll be on the 123 in a flash.

Very happy, happy birthday, indeed! I love Futurama and am a personal fan of Dr. Zoidberg, as he often appears as my profile photo on Facebook. Here’s to many more years of funny business cards and mad food adventures! May our stomachs and filter organs forgive our trespasses!

So your website just had a Bloggaversary too! (See what I did there with making up words at whim? It’s a skill/curse) Congratulations on turning 2! Hope the cupcakes last night felt twice as celebratory.

  5. James Boo Says:

Thanks, Lady Prime! I’ll never forget the night John Zoidberg taught me the true meaning of an orgy invertebrate sex.

Melissa – the cupcakes were the icing on the, uh, cupcake… especially the sweet potato. I literally had to sit down in rapture after eating that :]
