Damn you for cursing my stomach to an eternal hell of EPIC HUNGER! What an awesome adventure. I love the pic of the pig mylar balloon -- it's like he's pointing and saying "check it, yo!" And the livestock races -- it's like someone told them in their secret animal language "run like the wind... winner won't be slow roasted on a spit fire!" I do love the experience of something faraway and exotic, but this is a nice reminder that our own country is full of its own rich, idiosyncratic quirk that's worth exploring and sharing!

I love the idea of a BBQ festival, and sounds like you had a fun road trip. But I bet it might have been better for you guys to do a BBQ crawl on your own instead of going to the festival. Still, where else would you get to see a pig race! ;-)

Awesome post. How I do love piggy races and sandcastles, plus good food to boot. Wish I was there.

Yo James,

It was my pleasure to accompany you and "The Inspector" to North Carolina for this experience. The BBQ was delicious, as was your presence.

I've added my own paltry account of the weekend, which you can find on Vinicultured. That wine still gets me angry.
